Exhibition organized and curated by Obscura platform -Solo Show of Ana Chaduneli
Exhibition opening 20th of September 17:00-22:00 Live Music by Ana Jikia from 20:00 At Kurorti Ana uses a variety of media in her practice — from sculpting to painting, installation to digital art — to create immersive environments in which the viewer becomes part of a narrative, and contributes to the transformation of a space into a site-specific installation. In her work, she incorporates traditional techniques, forms and symbolism from Georgian history and from the Western canon; fusing seminal techniques and materials with found objects and modern materials, she creates mystical and imaginary landscapes. By dissolving boundaries between these media and their histories, she creates encounters with the sacral and symbolic.

In Byzantine painting and iconography, the icon at the sublime center overpowered the landscape and any trace of habitable space, and her drawings depict these liminal spaces. Full of organic shapes, flowering brambles and uncanny organisms, and opposed to the traditional Orthodox structure, only the representation of a background or ornaments will be present; she recreates these missing landscapes which have been overshadowed by the icon.

Her new painting series addresses nature represented in art as only a decoration, or ornament, where it becomes a symbol of beauty without its meaning, and how much influence art can have on our relation to the environment, nature and our surroundings.
